About Shamanism

Shamanism is a belief system steeped in reverence for the natural world and the sacred connection we have with the land, our ancestors and the spirits. It is not a religion or doctrine of any kind, however, more akin to Paganism and Druidry here in the UK.
Although its practises vary around the world, they all agree on one thing – Animism: the belief that all things have a spirit of their own.
The word Shaman literally means “fire in the head”; it describes the energy that infuses into the human body when spirit is channelled.
The skills of every Shaman are different, but can be understood from spiritual concepts such as mediumship, clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience and claircognizance. These are all tools in order to connect with spirit and bring through wisdom, healing and protection.
Many of the ancient tribal traditions are still found to this day in places such as the Amazon Rainforest, Mexico, North America, and Mongolia to name a few. Each culture has their own set of rules and ceremonies unique to them. Shamanic healers are souls who have one foot in this world and one in the other realms – the dreamtime. They are medicine people, guides and elders of their communities.
There is a great calling for this work at this time due to the Earth’s precarious position and humanity's need for healing and connection, hence the rise in its reach and popularity. I believe more souls are being called to walk this path than ever before in recent history.
A healer working in this way can help with various issues through methods like soul retrieval, energetic clearing, ancestral healing and psychopomp. It is work in the magical, where all things are possible.
It is through the Old Ways – those of our ancestors- that we can awaken the light and power that lies dormant within our hearts and transform our wounds into our greatest medicine and teachers.
